Want to grasp NLP using first-in-class text analytics software? Discover the Academic Program!

Since September 2016, Basis Technology has supported a dedicated Academic Program for researchers, professors, and students around the world. Members of the program get free access to the Rosette API at the Small Plan level (100 000 calls/month) as well as promotion through our social media channels. We also host hackathons, workshops, and challenge contests (if you haven’t seen it yet, check out our current Data Scientist Challenge!).
In addition, professors can set up a custom Rosette API plan to support an entire class. This simplified signup process allows students to get right to work using Rosette’s first-in-class text analytics functions to analyze raw text. For classes on custom plans we also run brief, informative Quick Start webinars that introduce our technology and its functionality. The program is free and we take care of all the setup, so let us know if you’d like to design a plan for your class!
Our Academic Program members come from a range of domains, including natural language processing, big data analytics, text mining, artificial intelligence, and general computer science. We’ve seen students use Rosette for many different projects ranging from social media monitoring to morphological normalization for data visualization. One student extracted social media posts that mentioned particular products and compared their sentiment, another is developing a pilot application to assess physician performance using Rosette’s core linguistic functions.
Our Academic Program is free for educational purposes but we also work with universities on major funded research initiatives. We have partnered with Virginia Tech on its well known EMBERS project. EMBERS is a fully automated predictive analytics system used to forecast significant societal events (like riots) through real-time analysis of social media and other public domain data. Our Academic Program community includes members from the the United States, Europe, Latin America, and beyond. If you’d like to sign up, or learn more, drop us a line: academics@basistech.com
