Make Airbnb your home away from home for the holidays

Travel with peace of mind knowing that Airbnb’s Verified ID feature is powered by Rosette’s industry leading fuzzy name matcher

There’s no busier time of year for travel than the holiday season. Whether you’re of the “no place like home” variety à la Perry Como, or take after Reese and Vince and enjoy nothing more than skipping family time in favor of relaxing in the tropics, it’s more than likely that you’ll be doing some traveling during the next month.

If you haven’t secured lodging for your trip yet, we recommend our customer Airbnb, the home-sharing giant that is quickly becoming the world’s largest hotel chain. While the birth of the sharing economy has raised a number of safety and privacy concerns, Airbnb’s Verified ID program, powered by Rosette, allows you to rest assured knowing your hosts are who they say they are.

Verified ID provides a connection between the online and offline identities of hosts and guests alike. Airbnb users can earn a “Verified ID” badge on their profile by providing their online identity (via existing Airbnb reviews or social media accounts) and matching it to offline ID documentation, such as a government issued photo ID.

How does Rosette fit into this process? We’re glad you asked. Rosette’s name matching is a key component of the Verified ID process. Given the international nature of Airbnb’s business, they need to be able to match names and identities that originate in multiple languages, and in more than just the Roman A-to-Z alphabet (how about Cyrillic?). For that, they needed a reliable, industry leading fuzzy name matcher like that offered by Rosette.
