BASIS TECHNOLOGY UNVEILS NEW NAMES FOR GLOBALIZATION SOFTWARE PRODUCTS

—  Rosette Globalization Platform Provides New Identity to Established Suite of Linguistics Software  —

Cambridge, MA, April 30, 2002—Basis Technology (www.basistech.com), a leading provider of globalization solutions, today unveiled new names for its suite of software products designed to help companies enter the global economy. The products, which have all been individually renamed, will now be presented together as the RosetteTM Globalization Platform. The company also today unveiled a new Rosette logo.

The Rosette Globalization Platform is a suite of software designed for integration into highly scalable applications that require analysis and processing of the world’s languages. The products in the platform are currently deployed among major search and retrieval, enterprise software, CRM, data warehousing, web portal, and retail/etail organizations.

“We made this move to better reflect the fact that our products have always worked together as a suite,” said Carl Hoffman, CEO of Basis Technology. “Since 1995, our products have been integrated into the core offerings of some of the world’s largest software and services companies. Most of these companies have integrated a number of products in the Rosette Globalization Platform, making their offerings as relevant as possible for specific markets and thereby gaining a competitive edge in their international expansion.”

The new names for Basis Technology’s software products are as follows:

Rosette Globalization Platform

  • Rosette Core Library for Unicode (formerly Rosette)
  • Rosette Language Identifier (formerly Euclid)
  • Rosette Compatibility Layer for Windows 9x (formerly Cheops)
  • Rosette Chinese Script Converter (formerly C2C)
  • Rosette Language Analyzers (formerly Morphological Analyzers)
    • Rosette Japanese Analyzer (formerly JMA)
    • Rosette Chinese Analyzer (formerly CMA)
    • Rosette Korean Analyzer (formerly KMA)

“Another reason for making this change is to more accurately describe what each of our products does by simplifying our naming conventions,” said Steve Cohen, executive vice president and vice president of products, Basis Technology. “With these new names, our customers will be able to more easily identify the products they need to bring their technology to the world. Now, when companies are looking to launch their products and services in the global economy, they need only remember one name: Rosette.”
